Kinsler had procedure on ankle: Texas 2B Ian Kinsler said Saturday he had a plasma injection a week after the season ended to separate a ligament from the bone and ease pain in his right ankle, according to ESPN.com. Kinsler said the ankle has been hurting since spring training in 2010. "I feel 100 percent and it's the first time I can say that in a long time," Kinsler said. "It didnt bug me to the point where it affected how I felt running or moving laterally, I just didnt feel as powerful. Being able to feel that again is pretty cool. Its a good feeling." He is expected to be ready for camp this year. (Updated 01/14/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Despite the persistent pain in his ankle, Kinsler appeared in a career-high 155 games last season and had 32 home runs and 77 RBI while scoring 121 runs. "It hampered me, but I learned how to cheat in stealing bases and it taught me a lot about picking up small things," said Kinsler, who also topped 30 steals last year for the second time in his career. "I think I can improve on that." Fantasy owners should consider Kinsler a solid selection in the early round of drafts for the upcoming season. (Updated 01/14/2012).

Ian Kinsler recorded more than 600 at-bats for the first time in his career in 2011 and showed Fantasy owners what he can do when healthy. While he batted just .233 over the first month of the season, he produced five home runs and 12 RBI in April before picking up his game. He would hit .259 with 27 long balls and 65 RBI over his final 128 games, finishing with a career high in homers (32) and also stole 30 bases, posting his second 30-30 campaign. His .477 slugging percentage was also way up from the .412 mark he posted in 2010, and he also walked more times than he struck out. The 29-year-old has been one of the better options in Fantasy since joining the majors in 2006 and that shouldn't change heading into this season. With the type of protection he has in the lineup and the ballpark in which he plays, Kinsler should be able to come close to 30-30 numbers again, and his average should reflect his career .275 mark. Consider Kinsler a Top 5 Fantasy 2B on Draft Day, worthy of being taken in the early rounds. (Updated 1/28/12)
