| (11/24/08) The Diamondbacks on Monday released infielder Jamie D'Antona, who is expected to sign with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows of Japan's Central League. D'Antona made his major league debut July 22, getting a pinch-hit single in his first career at-bat against the Cubs' Sean Marshall at Chase Field. He hit .176 (3-for-17) with an RBI in 18 games for Arizona last season. |
| Diamondbacks promote six players |
| (9/2/08) The Diamondbacks expanded their roster on Tuesday, recalling six players, including three pitchers. Right-handers Billy Buckner and Leo Rosales joined left-hander Doug Slaten as roster additions. All three spent time with the Diamondbacks earlier this season. Arizona also added infielders Jamie D'Antona and Josh Whitesell and outfielder Alex Romero. D'Antona and Romero were with the Diamondbacks earlier, but Whitesell is in the majors for the first time. He batted .328 for Tucson with 86 runs scored, 36 doubles and 26 home runs. He was second in the Pacific Coast League with 110 RBI. |
