Cold wave slows Schierholtz: After a torrid stretch during the middle of April, San Francisco outfielder Nate Schierholtz has seemed to level off again. Schierholtz was held out of the starting lineup twice during the Giants' three-game series against San Diego over the past weekend and finished 1 for 5 with a run scored. He served as a pinch hitter in two of those outings as his batting average dropped to .283 on the season. (Updated 04/30/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Schierholtz's standing as one of the most frustrating Fantasy players continued as he has registered just one hit -- a single -- in his past 17 at-bats. He showed that he can be a productive player when he notched six hits, including two triples and a home run, during a doubleheader sweep against the Mets last Monday. But his significant ups and downs on offense keep him just an NL-only Fantasy option for now. (Updated 04/30/2012).

05/13/2012 20:18 Hit Parade for Week 7
As interleague play gets under way there are many matchups to break down. Our Scott White tells you who the best bets and biggest risks are in his Hit Parade for Week 7.
Nate Schierholtz started 70 games in right field for the Giants in 2011, and he could potentially be a fixture there for the coming season. He set a career high with 362 plate appearances, but the Schierholtz Fantasy owners saw last season was not appreciably different than the part-timer they saw over the previous two seasons. He doesn't walk much, has just moderate home run and gap power and picks up a handful of stolen bases. Schierholtz does just enough of everything to be worth something in Fantasy if he is given regular playing time, but not enough to be worth drafting in most mixed leagues under any circumstance. Especially since the Giants have a crowded outfield situation with Melky Cabrera, Angel Pagan, Brandon Belt and Aubrey Huff all potentially angling for playing time, Schierholtz could eventually see his role curtailed. Even in the best-case scenario, plan on using Schierholtz only for your NL-only leagues. (Updated 2/13/12)
