Baker was just designated for assignment by the Padres.

Baker is hitting just .150 in 40 at-bats this season.

(5/15/13) Padres catcher John Baker hit a go-ahead, two-run single in the second inning against Freddy Garcia, sparking San Diego to an 8-4 win over the Orioles Wednesday. Baker finished 1 for 4 with one walk and two strikeouts.
The RBI Wednesday were Baker's first of the season. He also ended a 0-for-18 slump in his previous nine games (six starts).
