| John Baker's first RBI lead Padres to win |

(5/15/13) Padres catcher John Baker hit a go-ahead, two-run single in the second inning against Freddy Garcia, sparking San Diego to an 8-4 win over the Orioles Wednesday. Baker finished 1 for 4 with one walk and two strikeouts.
The RBI Wednesday were Baker's first of the season. He also ended a 0-for-18 slump in his previous nine games (six starts).

(5/1/13) Padres catcher John Baker was behind the plate for starter Andrew Cashner Wednesday night against the Cubs. It was the third time he has caught the right-hander.
Manager Bud Black told MLB.com Baker and Cashner have worked well together but his start had more to do with giving Nick Hundley a break.
"You've got to keep your bench current, you've got to get your guys at-bats," Black said. "With John, he and Cash have put together two good games. He pitched well in San Francisco with Baker catching and he threw well in his last start against the Giants, too, with Baker catching. But a lot of it has to do with the pitcher matchup on the opposition."

(2/26/13) U-T San Diego reports Padres catcher John Baker was scratched from Tuesday's spring lineup because of a sore wrist. "During season, John would be playing," manager Bud Black said.
