| Burgos in hot water again |
| (8/28/10) Police have charged former major league pitcher Ambiorix Burgos with kidnapping and attempted murder after his ex-wife said she was forced to eat rat poison. Judge Freddy Frias ordered Burgos on Saturday to remain in jail for three months while prosecutors prepare the case. The 26-year-old is suspected of kidnapping Dilenia Reynoso on Thursday from a prosecutor's home where she was hiding after allegedly receiving death threats from him. |

| (4/14/09) Prosecutors say former New York Mets pitcher Ambiorix Burgos has been sentenced to 9 months in jail for throwing his girlfriend against a wall and pummeling her in a hotel near Shea Stadium. The 24-year-old reliever was sentenced Tuesday. A jury convicted him last month of assault in the Sept. 8 attack. |

| (10/29/08) Mets RP Ambiorix Burgos was released from jail Wednesday following a car crash that killed two women in the Dominican Republic. A judge ordered him to pay $57,000 and appear every two weeks before a magistrate until a court date is set. The 24-year-old reliever is prohibited from leaving the country without permission from an appeals court. He missed all of last season due to an injury. |
