Preseason Outlook

The Rockies practically stole their No. 5 starter from the Rays right before the start of last season. Hammel was out of options with the Rays and wound up a solid starter on a surprising staff that led the upstarts to the postseason. Hammel is roughly in the category of a third-year starting pitcher -- making 58 career starts -- and could be a sleeper candidate to pick up late in deeper leagues. We figure he won't be drafted in most mixed formats, but we project him to be a double-digit winner worth taking as a member of an NL-only pitching staff. (Updated 1/13/10)
