Danks headed to DL: White Sox starting pitcher John Danks will not make his scheduled start on Friday against Cleveland, and is on his way to the 15-day disabled list with soreness in his left shoulder. Jose Quintana is due to be called up from Triple-A to take his place. He told reporters that he is dealing with soreness in the area behind his left shoulder, an issue he has never dealt with before, however an MRI revealed no significant damage. (Updated 05/24/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Danks told reporters he expects to be ready by the time his DL stint ends, however it looks like it is going to run through the entirety of Week 9 (May 28-June 3), so obviously keep him inactive for that Fantasy week. Danks has struggled this season, posting a 5.70 ERA that ranks as the seventh-highest in the major leagues right now, so all we can hope is that this time off helps him sort out whatever his issues have been this season. He is a viable Fantasy option when healthy. (Updated 05/24/2012).

05/13/2012 20:18 Hit Parade for Week 7
As interleague play gets under way there are many matchups to break down. Our Scott White tells you who the best bets and biggest risks are in his Hit Parade for Week 7.
John Danks was one of the hottest names in the rumor mill this offseason. With the White Sox in rebuilding mode and the left-hander in the final year of his contract, any team with a need for pitching was presumed to be in talks with general manager Kenny Williams. But then, Williams did the last thing anyone expected and signed Danks to a five-year extension. The deal may have been great for Danks personally, but it didn't exactly help his Fantasy value. For one thing, it meant he'll have to continue to pitch in a notorious hitter's park. For another, it meant he's stuck on a rebuilding club -- one that lacks the supporting cast he's used to. So even though the 26-year-old would normally be primed for a rebound season coming off a career-worst 4.33 ERA that was no doubt influenced by an abnormally high BABIP, he might again have to settle for a sub-.500 record. Danks had an 11-start stretch last June, July and August in which he posted a 2.03 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 8.6 strikeouts per nine innings, and if he can somehow build off those numbers, he'll overcome his lack of supporting cast. But because he's typically a middle-of-the-road option in those three categories, you shouldn't invest more than a middle-to-late-round pick in him. (Updated 2/17/12)
