Pirates' Penn sold to Japanese team: From The Sports Xchange notes: RHP Hayden Penn's rights were sold to the Japanese club Chiba Lotte for an undisclosed amount of cash, GM Neal Huntington confirmed. Penn, a 25-year-old right-hander, was 4-4 with a 4.68 ERA in 12 starts for Triple-A Indianapolis, including a 1.89 ERA in six June starts that earned him the team's player-of-the-month award.
