(11/4/13) The Reds did not make qualifying offers to the following players on Monday, according to MLB.com: infielder Cesar Izturis and relievers Manny Parra, Zach Duke and Nick Masset.
Izturis served as a utility infielder this season, while Parra and Duke worked out of the bullpen. Masset did not pitch in 2013 due to shoulder issues and thoracic outlet syndrome.

(6/22/13) Reds reliever Nick Masset had a setback in his recovery from shoulder surgery, but he was able to throw a bullpen session Saturday. According to MLB.com, Masset's recovery has been fitful, but he still expects to return to the majors this season.
“Right now I’m cutting it loose pretty good. I’m fairly close to where I’m probably 100 percent full speed," he said. "But it goes from feeling completely feeling completely normal to being my old self to what’s going on here and why all of a sudden is it acting up?”
Masset has not pitched since the 2011 regular season because of recurring issues.

Masset building arm strength
Cincinnati reliever Nick Masset, who missed the 2012 season with a shoulder injury, is still behind spring training schedule and does not have a timetable. In fact, he is long-tossing at distances of up to 130 feet between 80-100 times every other day and playing catch in between those days. "Pretty much, I'm trying to build up arm strength overall," Masset said. "I've been able to throw, for the most part, pain free. It's been really good and promising so far. It's exciting to have that feeling
