| Matt Tuiasosopo records three hits |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (5/15/13) Tigers outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo led Detroit in hits Wednesday afternoon during a loss to Houston. With no other Tigers batter reaching two hits, Tuiasosopo picked up three in the defeat.
Tuiasosopo went 3 for 3 with three singles. He scored on Avisail Garcia's homer in the second inning and drove in a run in the sixth with an RBI single to shallow left field. Tuiasosopo is batting .375 after 40 at-bats.
Wednesday was the first time Tuiasosopo saw more than one at-bat in a game since picking up two RBI on May 2 in Houston.

| Matt Tuiasosopo accepting of role |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/28/13) Tigers outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo has started three of the last five games, including two straight, in left field for Detroit. While he's batting .320 through 15 games, Tuiasosopo usually starts against left-handed starters, which is a role he's accepted.
"I want to be in there and play, but I know my role, I know what it is," Tuiasosopo said, per MLive.com. "Skip makes the moves he's going to make and I just try to do my best job whenever I'm in there -- whether they bring in a righty and let me hit, or when I'm facing lefties."

| Matt Tuiasosopo hits first home run |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (4/26/13) Tigers left fielder Matt Tuiasosopo earned a rare start in left field Friday against the Braves and delivered his first home run of the season. He went 2 for 4 and drove in five runs before being lifted for a defensive replacement.
With a .318 batting average in 22 at-bats, Tuiasosopo is making a strong case to receive more playing time.

| Matt Tuiasosopo doesn't disappoint in first start |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/8/13) Tigers outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo made his first start of the season in left field Sunday against the Yankees. Amid 17 mile-per-hour winds, manager Jim Leyland was pleased with how well the 26-year-old outfielder handled the situation, per the Detroit Free Press.
"I'm happy with him," Leyland said of Tuiasosopo's performance overall, which included going 2 for 3 with a walk. "I left him in there that one inning, in case you're wondering, because the ball was going to left and it wasn't going anywhere to right. I was just hoping, with a guy on or two guys on, he might run into one. Get one up in the wind, you've got a three-spot or a two-spot."

| Tigers always wanted Matt Tuiasosopo |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (3/28/13) Tigers outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo has won a spot on the opening day roster, but according to general manager Dave Dombrowski, he tried to acquire Tuiasosopo late last season when the team needed a right-handed bat, according to MLive.com.
"We tried to get him and we couldn't acquire him," Dombrowski said. "He was one of the guys at the top of our list for this role on our team."
Tuiasosopo, who signed a minor-league deal in the offseason, will be a bench option for the Tigers after batting .302 (16 for 53) with four homers, six doubles and 10 RBI in his first 27 spring games.
