Valdes ascends to majors: The Philadelphia Phillies made a flurry of roster moves prior to Friday's game against San Diego, promoting pitchers Jacob Diekman and Raul Valdes and third baseman Hector Luna from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The team also placed outfielder Laynce Nix on the disabled list with a strained left calf, transferred pitcher Justin De Fratus to the 60-day DL and outrighted Brian Sanches to Triple-A. Fantasy Analysis
Valdes appeared in 11 games out of the bullpen for Lehigh Valley this season and registered a 1-2 record with a 3.86 ERA. The left-hander has averaged more than a strikeout per innings (26 in 21 innings) while walking just one batter. His strikeout rate makes him an intriguing Fantasy option, but he is unlikely to see time in the later innings of games. Consider him a marginal option in NL-only Fantasy formats.
