Walker scraping for hits: Pittsburgh second baseman Neil Walker went 2 for 4 with a pair of singles during the Pirates' 4-3 win over Detroit in an interleague game on Saturday. Walker's multihit performance was just the second time over his past 13 games he has posted multiple hits. His batting average has dropped to .261 on the season. (Updated 05/19/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Walker's strikeout rate has jumped during the second month of the season, which has contributed to his decrease in effectiveness. After posting just eight strikeouts in April, the 26-year-old has fanned 15 times this montj, including at least once in four straight games. His power also has been lacking as he's notched just five doubles. The potential is there, but patience is running thin on Walker as an everyday Fantasy contributor. (Updated 05/19/2012).

05/20/2012 16:15 Scherzer K's 15 as Tigers rally by Bucs
Max Scherzer struck out 15 -- the most by a Detroit pitcher in 40 years -- and the Tigers rallied for him with three runs in the seventh inning to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 on Sunday.
05/18/2012 21:53 Verlander's near no-hitter carries Tigers
Justin Verlander came within two outs of his third career no-hitter, allowing only Josh Harrison's ninth-inning single in the Detroit Tigers' 6-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night.
In 2011, Neil Walker matched his total of 12 home runs from the year before but it was not as impressive considering he saw 350 more at-bats. Still, he led NL second basemen with 83 RBI and recorded 36 doubles. Walker also posted a .334 on-base percentage while slugging .408. The 26-year-old is part of a young nucleus in Pittsburgh that has a ton of upside and will continue to bat in the middle of the order, giving him ample of opportunities to drive in runs. He would become even more valuable in Fantasy if his power could blossom near the 20-homer range but given the offensive prowess he has shown over the last two seasons, consider Walker a Top 15 Fantasy 2B on Draft Day.
