(3/27/13) Phillies infielder Kevin Frandsen was removed from Wednesday's spring game against the Tigers after getting hit by Justin Verlander's pitch on the left wrist. He's batting .279 (17-for-61) with two homers and 10 RBI in 24 spring games.
|Phils sign Frandsen to one-year deal|
|by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(11/14/12) The Phillies announced on Tuesday that Kevin Frandsen, who hit .338 with 10 doubles over 195 at-bats -- mostly later in the season when filling in for (and eventually winning the job from) Placido Polanco at third base -- has agreed to a one-year contract with the team.
|With Placido Polanco hobbled in 2012, Kevin Frandsen stepped up and hit a career-high .338 in 195 at-bats, compiling an .834 OPS in the process. His reward? A probable spot on the 2013 bench, as the Phillies brought in Michael Young to man third base. Frandsen does have something going for him, though: the Phillies' infield is prone to injury and either he or Young could end up filling in at several positions (Frandsen also has 14 career appearances in the outfield) during the season. Until injury strikes, consider Frandsen waiver wire material in most Fantasy formats. (Updated 1/4/13)|
