Preseason Outlook

The converted catcher started last season as the Cardinals' closer, but he didn't even make it through the opening night. Ryan Franklin wound up taking over the role and didn't relinquish it. Pitching guru Dave Duncan still considers Motte one of his pet projects but the raw talent is going to open the season as middle reliever for the deepest of leagues that use true middle men at this point.
