Bernadina flashes some pop: Roger Bernadina, the left-handed side of the Nationals' left field platoon, got the start on Thursday against the Pirates, and he showed a rare flash of power in hitting his first home run of the season. Bernadina went 1 for 4 in the game, with just a solo home run to his credit in the Nationals 4-2 win. (Updated 05/10/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Bernadina has the power and speed for double-digit production in home runs and steals, so hopefully he can get going with his first one off the board. He should get the majority of the chances in the left-field platoon, however he is hitting just .189 for the season, so until he gets things going, consider him just a low-end NL-only Fantasy option. 05/10/2012 21:58 Strasburg fans 13 in win over Pirates

05/08/2012 13:28 Nats 3B Zimmerman comes off DL, Werth heads there
Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman has been reinstated from the 15-day disabled list by the Washington Nationals, who put outfielder Jayson Werth on the DL.
The 27-year-old Roger Bernadina will still have to prove he's up to the task, but is expected to start in center field for the Nationals this season. Washington is finally ready to unleash him upon the National League after he hit .243 with seven homers, 27 RBI, 40 runs scored and 17 stolen bases over 309 at-bats last year. Bernadina split time between the majors and minors last year but is looking to cement himself in the Nationals' lineup in 2012. Unfortunately, a lot of his playing time will depend on when Bryce Harper is allowed to make his major league debut. Harper could play center or right for the Nats and Washington would likely have Michael Morse and Jayson Werth joining him, pushing Bernadina to backup services. Even as a starter, Bernadina would only be worth drafting in NL-only Fantasy leagues. (Updated 2/8/12)
