| Bill Bray moves closer to majors |

(5/6/13) The Nationals assigned pitcher Bill Bray to Double-A Harrisburg Monday after a stint in extended spring training to help refine his mechanics, MASNsports.com reports. Bray, who appeared in 14 games with the Reds last season, owns an opt-out clause in his contract which reportedly takes effect in June.

(3/20/13) Nationals manager Davey Johnson mentioned reliever Bill Bray as a potential left-handed candidate for the bullpen, MLB.com reported.
"He's coming along," Johnson said of Bray. "He's making progress. So we'll see. But his arm strength is pretty good. It's just his release point is not what it used to be. So we're trying to stretch his arm position farther away from his body. He started tucking it and getting behind him, and that affects your command and also your velocity."

Montero, D-Backs handle Reds
Miguel Montero drove in four runs with a bases-loaded double and a solo homer Monday night, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 5-3 win shortly after the Cincinnati Reds learned they'll have to try to hold onto first place in the NL Central without Joey Votto.

Ludwick's HR in 10th wins it for Reds
Ryan Ludwick led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a full-count homer that barely cleared the wall in left field, sending the Cincinnati Reds to their fifth straight win on Saturday, 3-2 over the St. Louis Cardinals.
