|Michael Bourn vows to increase aggressiveness in 2014 |
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
(3/7/14) Indians center fielder Michael Bourn, who experienced a disappointing debut season in 2013 with Cleveland, is planning on using his speed more to his avantage this year.
"I wasn't aggressive enough [last year]," he told WTAM-AM.
Bourn managed just five bunt hits last season. His 23 stolen bases was his lowest total since 2007 and his 75 runs was his lowest total in five years. He is set as the leadoff hitter for the Indians in 2014.

(2/27/14) Indians outfielder Michael Bourn sat out the team's spring training opener Wednesday, but was atop the lineup for the next game to test his surgically repaired left hamstring. Bourn struck out in two at-bats, but reported no trouble playing the field in the game.
Bourn played 130 games in the first season of his massive free-agent contract, but hit just .263/.316/.360 while dealing with injury issues.

(2/19/14) Indians outfielder Michael Bourn said his surgically repaired left hamstring is 100 percent, according to The Plain Dealer. He said he has no limitations, but the team might hold him out of the spring opener.

(10/15/13) Cleveland outfielder Michael Bourn had minor hamstring surgery, and will be able to start a normal offseason program in 4-6 weeks.
Bourn hit .263/.316/.360 in 525 at-bats his first season with the club, but has limited to just 23 stolen bases. That was Bourn's lowest stolen bases total since 2007. He should be good to go once spring training begins.
|Michael Bourn to lead off in Wild Card game |
|by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com|
(10/2/13) Cleveland outfielder Michael Bourn will lead off in Wednesday's Wild Card game against Tampa Bay, Fox Sports reports.
Bourn has been dealing with a wrist issue for much of the season's final month. He played in the club's final two games, however, so it should be no surprise he's in the lineup for Wednesday's elimination contest despite leaving Sunday's game early with a tight calf. Bourn hit .263/.316/.360 in 525 at-bats.
|With minimal power and typically pedestrian batting averages, Michael Bourn hasn't exactly been a well-rounded Fantasy threat, but what he does is steal bases. Actually, what he used to do is steal bases. In 2013, Bourn attempted just 35 steals after making 55 attempts in 2012 and 75 attmepts in 2011. Worse yet, he succeeded on only 23 of those 35 attempts. Missing nearly a month with a finger laceration didn't help Bourn to boost his steals total, but his sinking attempt rate and declining efficiency are causes for concern. You still can't spell "Bourn" without the letters r, u, and n, but you can no longer rely on him to be a top 30 Rotisserie outfielder, and he can be saved for the late rounds in Head-to-Head leagues.
