Preseason Outlook

Prado took over as the Braves' everyday second baseman midway through the season and did everything struggling incumbent Kelly Johnson couldn't, using his gap power to string together multi-hit games and finish the year with a more than respectable .822 OPS. He doesn't have the high walk rate or even the upside of Johnson, but hitting seems to come more naturally to him. He hit an even .300 during his minor-league career and has hit over .300 in each of his first two major-league seasons. The Braves pulled the plug on Johnson this winter and will hand the second base job to Prado this spring. He could surprise as a versatile late-round pick in mixed leagues -- in an '09 Marco Scutaro way -- but just don't expect 20 homers from him. (Updated 1/13/10)
