Rays' Asdrubal Cabrera, Steven Souza out of lineup Monday
|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|
|(5/25/15) Rays shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and right fielder Steven Souza are out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners.
Cabrera suffered a mild groin sprain on Sunday and will be replaced by Tim Beckham at shortstop on Monday. He did say that he's feeling better and hopes to play Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Souza was removed from Sunday's game after suffering a sprained left wrist on a foul tip. His absence will earn Monday call-up Jake Elmore a start in left field.
The Rays are favorites (-128) at home on Monday, per VegasInsider.com.
Rays' James Loney, Asdrubal Cabrera suffer injuries on Sunday

|(5/24/15) Rays shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera left Sunday's game in the eighth inning after suffering a mild groin sprain, per the Tampa Bay Times.
First baseman James Loney suffered a sprained finger but was able to complete the game.
"Just a little sore," Loney said. "We'll see."
Cabrera went 1 for 3 in the game and committed his second error of the season. Loney went 2 for 4 and stole his first base of the year.
"I feel a little sore, but it's more tightness," Cabrera said. "I think I'll be all right in a couple days."
Asdrubal Cabrera out, Nick Franklin in Rays lineup Thursday
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(5/21/15) Struggling Rays shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera is set to sit Thursday against visiting Oakland. Nick Franklin will play the position instead.
Cabrera has been steadily unproductive since mid-April. His batting average has not been higher than .225 since that point. He currently owns a stat line of .209/.264/.338 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 148 at-bats.
Rays' Asdrubal Cabrera adds a pinch of power in win over Braves
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(5/19/15) Rays shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera launched his second home run of the season during Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Braves.
Cabrera took Atlanta starter Mike Foltynewicz deep for a solo home run to tie the game in the fourth inning. It was his only hit of the night, as he finished 1 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. He raised his slash line to .214/.265/.345 on the year.
|2014 Summary: With his contract nearing its expiration date, the Indians shipped Asdrubal Cabrera to Washington at the trade deadline, which unfortunately didn't help him recapture his form from 2011, when he was one of the most productive middle infielders in the game. He didn't take another step back at least, but his final stat line was almost a carbon copy of the one he had in 2013, which featured 14 homers and nothing more to speak of.|
Playing time status: Cabrera played second base almost exclusively after joining the Nationals, which wasn't the direction Fantasy owners liked to see his career take. Fortunately, he figures to move back to shortstop with his new team, the Rays, despite his defensive shortcomings.
2015 Outlook: At age 29, Cabrera is technically still in his prime, but his best was so long ago that it doesn't even seem like a feasible outcome for him, especially since he'll play half his games in a pitcher's park. Even at a weak position like shortstop, he's just one of a glut of players who won't bury you but won't set you apart either -- and on the lower end at that. He might even go undrafted in mixed leagues.
