| Eric Young Jr. hitting leadoff in Mets debut |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (4:35 pm ET) Mets outfielder Eric Young Jr. will hit leadoff in his debut with the team Wednesday against Atlanta.
Young was acquired as an attempt to solve the Mets' season-long issues in the outfield. He was blocked by the glut of outfielders in Colorado, so the Mets will give him his first real chance at consistent playing time. Young hit .242/.290/.352 with eight steals in 57 games (26 starts) for Colorado.

| Mets, Rockies exchange DFA players |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (6/18/13) The Mets traded pitcher Collin McHugh to the Rockies Tuesday in exchange for outfielder Eric Young. McHugh and Young recently were designated for assignment, so neither team loses a player from the active roster.
McHugh has a 10.29 ERA in seven major-league innings this season, while Young hit .242 with a .642 OPS in 165 at-bats for the Rockies.

| Rockies designate Eric Young for assignment |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (6/12/13) Rockies outfielder Eric Young has been designated for assignment, the Denver Post reports. The move clears a 25-man roster spot for Chris Volstad.
Young hit .242/.290/.352 with a home run, six RBI, 22 runs and eight stolen bases in 165 at-bats.

| Eric Young hitting second Friday |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (6/7/13) Rockies manager Walt Weiss flip-flopped Eric Young and Dexter Fowler in the starting lineup. Fowler will take over the leadoff spot while Young will hit second.
Weiss told The Denver Post that batting Young second will allow him to see more fastballs and be a more effective hitter. It's the first time Young is hitting second since July of 2011.
"I flipped them today," Weiss said. "There are some possibilities with EY in the two-hole, some things he can do that I like."
He has just two hits in his last 19 at-bats.

| Eric Young trying to end May slump |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/15/13) Rockies outfielder Eric Young doubled, homered and drove in two runs Tuesday against the Cubs. He also scored twice.
Young entered the game mired in a 1-for-17 slump. He's batting .200 (7 for 35) with one home run, two doubles, two RBI, three walks, three stolen bases and seven runs in 12 May games (seven starts).
|
| Eric Young has speed, good contact skills and a knack for drawing walks, but those qualities are not enough to elevate him above fifth-outfielder status in Colorado. Barring a trade, Young will have a hard time exceeding the 196 plate appearances he received last year, but he will still be relevant in deep Fantasy leagues. Despite having played only 256 games over his four seasons, Young has swiped 62 bases. His help in that category alone makes Young someone whom NL-only Rotisserie owners could target on Draft Day.
