|Eric Young on extended tear for Mets |
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
(4/17/14) Mets leadoff hitter Eric Young has broken free from an early-season slump in style and with consistency. He opened the year 0 for 15 but is since batting .350 with 14 hits in 40 at-bats. He also has six hits in his last three games.
The result has been many trips down the third-base line to home plate. Young has scored 12 runs in the last eight games. He is tied for the National League lead in that department.

(4/11/14) Mets outfielder Eric Young showed some signs of life Thursday, in a 6-4 win over the Braves.
Young reached based four times, going 3 for 5 while reaching once on a fielder's choice, and he was a terror on the basepaths. Young scored each time he was on base, while adding three stolen bases.
Young hasn't been on base much while hitting .226/.286/.323 through eight games, but he has been tough for opposing defenses to handle when he has. He has five stolen bases in eight games, and is hitting .316 over his last five games, while reaching base at least once in six straight.

|A trade to the Mets in June last season gave outfielder Eric Young an opportunity he couldn't get with the Rockies -- a chance to play every day. Young didn't let the opportunity go to waste. He got off to a promising start with the Mets, batting .308 with a .782 OPS in his first 24 games following the trade. However, while his offense began to tail off, Young made his greatest impact on the base paths. He totaled 38 steals in 91 games with the Mets and finished the season with an NL-leading 46. Young was also a finalist for a Gold Glove award. Still, despite Young's strong performance, the Mets signed Chris Young and Curtis Granderson in the offseason, creating a crowded outfield situation. Eric Young could still play his way into regular at-bats because of his speed and defense, and he could even end up at second base if the Mets trade Daniel Murphy. However, because his greatest contribution in Fantasy is stolen bases, he could be overlooked in Head-to-Head leagues and remain primarily a late-round selection in Rotisserie formats.
