Papelbon closes out shootout: Thursdays game between the Phillies and Cardinals was a wild one, with the two teams combining for 19 runs and 33 hits, however when it came time to close it out, Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon was his typically strong self. Papelbon allowed just one hit in one inning, which picking up a strikeout to preserve a 10-9 Phillies win. It was his 13th save of the season. (Updated 05/25/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Papelbon continues to give the Phillies exactly what they were looking for when they signed him in the offseason, as he is perfect in 13 save chances. He has allowed just five earned runs in 18 1/3 innings, while striking out 22 and walking four batters. He is a rock-solid closer, a seemingly rare commodity this season, so continue to consider him a high-end Fantasy option for all formats. (Updated 05/25/2012).
05/25/2012 00:08 Phillies have season-high 18 hits in win
Shane Victorino and Freddy Galvis each drove in three runs, including Galvis' go-ahead single in the sixth inning, and the Philadelphia Philles beat the St. Louis Cardinals 10-9 on Thursday.
05/23/2012 23:22 Hamels (7-1) stops Nats; Phils end skid
Cole Hamels pitched eight scoreless innings, finishing up by retiring Bryce Harper on a grounder as the Philadelphia Phillies snapped a season-long four-game losing streak Wednesday night with a 3-1 victory against the Washington Nationals.
05/18/2012 23:31 Booed in Philly, Cody Ross still says Phillies will rise
After similar starts to the season, the Phillies and Red Sox are meeting this weekend as big-money, last-place teams. Red Sox outfielder Cody Ross says the Phils will still finish "at the top." How many would say the same about Ross' Red Sox?
05/18/2012 22:16 Hamels pitches red-hot Phils over BoSox
Cole Hamels pitched seven strong innings, and Hunter Pence and Freddy Galvis homered to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to their sixth straight victory with a 6-4 win over the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.
05/17/2012 23:22 Phils hang on, Halladay's drought ends
Roy Halladay threw eight strong innings for his first win in a month and the Philadelphia Phillies held on for an 8-7 victory against the Chicago Cubs on Thursday night.
And just like that, Jonathan Papelbon was out of Boston, removing himself from the market that made him a household name by signing a four-year deal with the Phillies in the offseason. But even though he's leaving one of baseball's traditional powerhouses, he might actually be in a more favorable situation for his Fantasy value. The Red Sox's shortcoming last season was pitching, which is part of the reason why Papelbon got only 31 saves, 18th-most in baseball. The Phillies, however, boast one of the best pitching trios in major-league history in Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels. Better pitching means lower-scoring games, which often means closer games and more save opportunities. That could be the last ingredient Papelbon needs to get back to being the elite closer he was in 2006, 2007 and 2008. He seemed to be back on track otherwise last year, posting the second-best strikeout rate (12.2 per nine innings) and second-best walk rate (1.4 per nine innings) of his career. With his stock only expected to rise again after last year's resurgence, Papelbon is back to being a top-five Fantasy relief pitcher. (Updated 2/21/12)
