|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
(9/14/14) The recent struggles of Twins closer Glen Perkins didn't end Sunday against the White Sox, but he did nail down his first save since Sept. 1.
Perkins gave up a home run to Jose Abreu and single to Marcus Semien with nobody out, but retired the next three in order to notch his 34th save of the season.
|Glen Perkins takes blown save, loss in Game 2 |
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
(9/13/14) Twins closer Glen Perkins was charged with a blown save and a loss in Game 2 of a doubleheader against the White Sox Saturday night. Perkins served a walkoff solo home run to Dan Viciedo in the ninth to end the game. He allowed two runs on one hit and one walk in one-third of an inning. He owns a 3.17 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP over 59 2/3 innings of work.

|by R.J. White | CBSSports.com|

Santana has been sidelined since Saturday with a back injury. Perkins hasn't pitched since Thursday with a neck issue.
|Glen Perkins hopes to return Wednesday |
|by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(9/9/14) Twins closer Glen Perkins, who hasn't pitched since Thursday because of a stiff neck, threw a bullpen session Tuesday and hopes to be back Wednesday, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Perkins has been one of the top closers in the game this year, recording 33 saves with a 2.88 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 9.9 strikeouts per nine innings.
|Glen Perkins to miss "a few days" |
|by Al Melchior | Data Analyst|
(9/7/14) Twins manager Ron Gardenhire told MLB.com he expects closer Glen Perkins to miss multiple games with a stiff neck. Though Gardenhire categorized Perkins as "day-to-day," he also said, "we're not going to even mess with him for a few days."
Perkins has been unavailable ever since experiencing stiffness in his neck during Thursday's game against the Angels. Jared Burton and Casey Fien are the leading candidates to be used in save situations in Perkins' absence.
|Glen Perkins' metamorphasis from struggling starting pitcher to reliable set-up man to stud closer was completed last season, as he nailed down 36 out of 40 save opportunities for the Twins while finishing in the top 10 among Fantasy relievers. There's little risk in targeting Perkins as your No. 1 reliever in any format. He gets the requisite strikeout-plus per inning and has impeccable control. Given his tepid ground ball tendencies, he may have trouble holding opponents to a .306 slugging percentage again, but even if he allows a few more extra-base hits, the damage to Perkins' Fantasy value should be minimal.
