| (3/11/11) The Nationals released pitcher Cla Meredith on Friday, less than two weeks after he underwent Tommy John surgery for the second time. |

| (3/2/11) Nationals RP Cla Meredith had Tommy John surgery on Wednesday, the second time in the last five months he has had an arm procedure. Meredith left Sunday's practice early with an injury to his right elbow. Manager Jim Riggleman dismissed the idea that Meredith may have already had the injury when he was signed this offseason, saying, "I don't think there was any concern...It could be a wear-and-tear injury that's been going on for years, but when they did the bone chips, there was no reason to do anything more at that point, I assume." Meredith underwent surgery to remove bone chips in the same elbow last October. |

He underwent surgery to remove bone chips in the same elbow last October and could need surgery again. Manager Jim Riggleman hinted that Meredith might need Tommy John surgery. |

| (2/27/11) Washington RP Cla Meredith underwent an MRI on his right elbow, reports MLB.com on Sunday. Meredith will not receive the results of the MRI until Monday, when the Nationals' doctors arrive in Florida. Meredith believed his elbow to be feeling better until playing catch on Friday. He had bone chips removed from the elbow this last offseason. He is also dealing with back issues as well. |
