|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(1/6/15) The Tigers announced Tuesday they agreed to terms with pitcher Tom Gorzelanny on a one-year deal. To clear a roster spot, pitcher Luke Putkonen was designated for assignment.
The 32-year-old Gorzelanny spent the 2014 season pitching out of the Brewers' bullpen. However, he missed the first few months of the season recovering from shoulder surgery. He posted a 0.86 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 23 relief appearances. He struck out 23 batters in 21 innings.
The 28-year-old Putkonen made just two appearances for Detroit in 2014, posting a 27.00 ERA. He is 1-5 with a 4.66 ERA in 44 career relief appearances.

Tom Gorzelanny's rehab outing Friday 'pivotal'
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(6/6/14) Brewers pitcher Tom Gorzelanny will start for Triple-A Nashville Friday, in what assistant general manager Gord Ash told MLB.com was a "pivotal" outing in his recovery from a shoulder injury.
Gorzelanny is nearing the end of his rehab assignment, and Friday's appearance is important because he is expected to toss more pitches than he has yet. He will be stretched out to 35 pitches, with his rehab assignment set to expire Thursday, and the team isn't sure whether he is ready for the majors.
"Well, he's continued to still report some stiffness, and if he continues to report that, the ability not to get loose, then we'll have to bring him back from the rehab and just leave him on the DL for a while," Ash said. "The goal, obviously, is to get him [back on the active roster]."
Tom Gorzelanny's velocity isn't there yet, manager says
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
|(5/31/14) Brewers reliever Tom Gorzelanny (shoulder) has 12 days left of rehab in the minors, but manager Ron Roenicke isn't satisfied with his velocity, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
