| Scott Rice on pace to break appearance record |

(5/16/13) Mets pitcher Scott Rice spent 14 seasons in the minors before making the team in 2013, and he's received a ton of work despite his limited major-league experience.
Rice has made a major-league high 23 appearances this season. If he continues being used at this rate, Rice would break the Mets' record for appearances in a season. Manager Terry Collins has been happy with Rice's production, saying "Scott’s done a great job, he really has. So in those situations, he’s going to have to be the guy that steps up, and either gets his groundball or strikeout."
In 18 1/3 innings this season, Rice has a 3.44 ERA and a 3.84 FIP.

(4/1/13) Fourteen years. That's how long veteran reliever Scott Rice toiled in the minors before making his big-league debut Monday. "This one obviously is a little special," Rice told MLB.com. "It's pretty awesome. I was able to relish in it for a couple days, but now it's time to go back to work."
Rice, 31, will serve as one of two lefty specialists in the bullpen for the Mets.

(3/29/13) The Mets finalized their new-look bullpen Friday, awarding roster spots to Scott Rice, LaTroy Hawkins and Scott Atchison. All three players had their contracts purchased from Triple-A Las Vegas to become members of the active roster.

| Mets to carry two left-handed relievers |

(3/20/13) Mets manager Terry Collins said during a radio interview Wednesday on WFAN that the team intends to carry two left-handed relievers. ESPN predicted one of the spots will go to Josh Edgin, while Pedro Feliciano, Robert Carson and Scott Rice vie for the other left-handed role in the bullpen.
ESPN also reported this news likely means there will only be room for either Greg Burke or Jeurys Familia in the team's rotation.
