|by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com|
|(4/22/15) Red Sox pitcher Edward Mujica picked up his first loss of the season after allowing two runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning in a 7-5 defeat to the Rays.
Mujica gave up an RBI to Desmond Jennings, who actually grounded into a double play. However, Asdrubal Cabrera was on third and was able to score. Jake Elmore then hit a solo home run in the next at-bat.
These runs put the Rays up 7-5 and the Red Sox were unable to answer offensively the remainder of the game.
Mujica is now 1-1 with an ERA of 4.70. He struck out one batter, walked one and surrendered three hits.

|(4/20/15) Red Sox starting pitchers have a 6.24 ERA this season, worst in the Major Leagues. As a result, the bullpen has had to pitch 49 and two thirds inning this year, second-highest total in baseball.
Craig Breslow has pitched nine and two thirds scoreless innings. Edward Mujica (2.70 ERA in six and two third innings) and Robbie Ross (1.42 in six and a third) have also performed well under a heavy early-season workload.
A 19-inning game against the Yankees helped increase the innings total for the bullpen.
"You monitor the workload of every individual guy," manager John Farrell said, per MLB.com. "Our goal is to continue to try to stretch our starters out as best as possible. To keep a bullpen that's successful, healthy and strong requires an equally strong rotation."

|(4/14/15) Red Sox manager John Farrell said Tuesday that pitcher Koji Uehara, who was activated off the disabled list Monday, "will go right back into the closer role," MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM reports.
Edward Mujica, who served as the team's interim closer with Uehara sidelined, was unable to convert his only save opportunity. He's allowed two earned runs, both on solo home runs, in three innings this season.
Uehara went 6-5 with a 2.52 ERA and 80:8 K:BB ratio in 64 1/3 innings last season while racking up 26 saves.

|(4/11/15) Red Sox pitcher Edward Mujica was charged with a blown save in Friday's 19-inning marathon against the Yankees.
Mujica entered the game in the bottom of the ninth inning with a 3-2 advantage and surrendered a two-out solo home run Chris Headley that cleared the right-field wall and sent the game to extras. Boston's bullpen started the season with 9 2/3 scoreless frames prior to Mujica's blown save.
"I felt good," Mujica said, per the Boston Herald. "Just one pitch. It was pretty good except that pitch. It came in a little bit and he got right there on the barrell. I'll keep working."
Mujica, who is filling in for Koji Uehara as the closer, was charged with one run on one hit and one strikeout over one inning of work. He owns a 4.50 ERA through two innings of work.
