Preseason Outlook

Bannister has proven to be a capable major league starter, but he is very hittable at times and one of those guys you really only trust when he is going well and facing favorable matchups. The problem is he pitches for the lowly Royals. You have to expect Bannister to post a full-season record well below .500, an ERA approaching 5.00 and a WHIP around 1.37. Further weighing down his status is a shoulder issue that ended his season last year. Although he was hoping to be healthy this spring, those factors make him a low-end option best left for deeper AL-only leagues at this point. (Updated 1/13/10)
