Marshall earns one-out save: Reds reliever Sean Marshall entered Monday's series opener against the Braves in the ninth inning with two on, two out and a three-run lead. After Jose Arredondo was unable to get the job done, the left-hander got Jason Heyward to pop out to secure the 4-1 win and collect his eighth save of the season. (Updated 05/21/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Marshall was removed from the closer's role on Sunday but with Aroldis Chapman unavailable Monday, he ended up getting the save. Manager Dusty baker said that he will use the best option on a day to day basis but Chapman is expected to see the majority of the save chances going forward. Marshall showed last season that he can be a viable option in Fanatsy but with his lessened role and poor start to the season, leave the 29-year-old for NL-only formats at this point. Right-hander Mike Leake hit his first career homer - part of three solo shots in a row by the Cincinnati Reds - and allowed only two hits over eight innings Monday night for a 4-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves.
05/21/2012 18:36 Sean Marshall is on the who's not list
Sean Marshall struggled on Sunday against the Yankees. The Fantasy Baseball 360 crew wonders if that was only temporary.

Johnny Cueto pitched effectively into the eighth inning, Ryan Ludwick delivered two big hits and the Cincinnati Reds closed out their extended visit to New York by beating the Yankees 5-2 Sunday.
Sean Marshall continued to prove himself as a solid reliever for the Cubs last season and had one of the better campaigns of his career. He posted personal bests in ERA (2.26), gopher balls (one) and walks (17) and even challenged Carlos Marmol for save chances at one point. His reward? Well, he might just get full-time save opportunities now that he's in Cincinnati. That wasn't the case when the Reds acquired him in a trade during the offseason, but since then, the team has learned that intended closer Ryan Madson needs Tommy John surgery and will miss all of 2012. Marshall's stuff makes him an ideal replacement, though the mystique of Aroldis Chapman makes him less than a sure thing. Of all the prospective closers who have yet to be officially designated for the role, Marshall is probably the most appealing for Fantasy purposes. He might not even slide all the way to the late rounds in standard mixed leagues. (Updated 3/25/12)
