Preseason Outlook

Sowers continues to pitch well in the minors, but his numbers in the majors are far from satisfactory. Part of the problem is his higher walk rate in the majors, but part of it is the likelihood he's just a Quadruple-A pitcher -- one too good for the minors but not good enough for the majors. Even if the finesse lefty did find success in the majors, his lack of knockout stuff would probably limit his upside to AL-only leagues. At age 26, he's running out of opportunities to stick in the majors. He's worth a flier in AL-only leagues just in case he wins a rotation spot, but you shouldn't hold out high hopes for him.
