Report: Braves/Astros discussed deal for Evan Gattis
|by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com|
|(12/2/14) The Braves and Astros discussed a possible trade for catcher Evan Gattis, according to FoxSports.com.
The deal comes with a twist, as Atlanta reportedly told Houston that they would have to take B.J. Upton as well. Upton still has $46.35 million on his contract, and the Astros were hesitant to take on that much money. The Braves were said to be targeting center fielder Dexter Fowler. Catcher Carlos Corporan's name also came up in conversations.

|(11/20/14) The Tigers have had preliminary talks with the Astros about a potential trade involving a catcher, according to FOX Sports reporter Jon Morosi. Houston appears willing to trade Jason Castro, Carlos Corporan or Hank Conger.
However, it appears the talks between the two teams are over, as the Tigers have moved on, a source told MLB.com. The talks were believed to be centered around a deal involving Corporan.
Swollen thumb limited Carlos Corporan
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
|(8/21/14) Astros catcher Carlos Corporan has been limited a bruised right thumb over the last two months, MLB.com reports Thursday.
"It's been hurting," he said before Thursday's game. "Just the fact I don't play every day, it's something you have to keep treating and then take care of. I'm just trying to forget about it and perform the best I can."
Coporan injured the thumb in mid-June and has been trying to deal with the injury by adding extra padding while catching. The fact that he does not play everyday has helped him avoid the DL, but this might be an injury he has to deal with for the rest of the season.
"I'm trying to do my best and take some medicine and try to get the best treatment I have for my thumb," he said. "The [training staff] has been doing a pretty good job. They've kept me in the lineup, avoiding the DL."
Bo Porter mum on beef with Carlos Corporan
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(7/5/14) Bo Porter has declined to elaborate about a heated exchange between him and Astros catcher Carlos Corporan in the fourth inning of their Friday defeat.
Corporan struck out looking and argued briefly with the umpire before exchanging words with Porter at the top of the dugout. The argument continued until Jose Altuve separated them. Porter was seen later with his arm around Corporan in the dugout.
"What happens between me and my players during the game will always stay between me and my players," Porter told MLB.com.
