| Mike Pelfrey takes no-decision |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (6/18/13) Twins starter Mike Pelfrey scattered 10 hits over six innings Tuesday against the White Sox. Minnesota pulled out the win, but Pelfrey settled for a no-decision.
Pelfrey gave up four earned runs and didn't walk a batter over 87 pitches and six frames. He struck out three and was hurt by Conor Gillaspie's two-run homer in the second inning. His ERA is 6.11.
Pelfrey, 29, has lost his last three decisions and hasn't won a start since May 5 at Cleveland. He's given up at least three runs in five consecutive outings and his record remains 3-6. He'll look to earn his fourth win when he starts Sunday in Cleveland.

| Mike Pelfrey settles for no-decision |
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com (6/12/13) Twins starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey made a quality start Wednesday night at home against the Phillies. He couldn't pull a win, but after leaving with a 3-2 deficit he settled for a no-decision, as the Twins scored two in the eighth en route to a 4-3 win.
Pelfrey went seven innings and allowed three runs on five hits and a walk. He surrendered two runs in the first and didn't give up his third run until Ben Revere hit an RBI single in the fifth. Pelfrey struck out seven over 112 pitches and his ERA is at 6.12.
The 29-year-old has back-to-back quality starts and has allowed three runs in three straight outings with nothing but a loss to show for it. His last win came way back on May 5 at Cleveland. His record is 3-6 with a 1.62 WHIP and he makes his next start Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox.

| Mike Pelfrey lowers ERA to 6.66 in loss |
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (5/31/13) Twins starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey suffered his sixth loss Friday against the Mariners, allowing three earned runs on six hits and four walks while striking out two in 5 1/3 innings. He lowered his ERA to 6.66 in the 3-0 loss and hasn't had a quality start in four straight games.
Pelfrey is scheduled to face the Royals in Kansas City next week.

| Mike Pelfrey has another poor outing |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/26/13) Twins starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey fell apart in the sixth inning Sunday against the Tigers and ended up as the losing pitcher in Detroit's 6-1 win. Pelfrey held Detroit to a pair of runs through five innings, which included a Torii Hunter solo home run in the first inning, but the Tigers broke through in the sixth inning with a four-run outburst.
"It was a game where we were in there for a long time, but you don't win many when you only get three hits and score one run," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said, per MLB.com. "Pelfrey made some good pitches early but just couldn't finish them off, and all of a sudden it's 6-1. But Pelfrey deserved a better linescore than that."
Pelfrey (3-5) was charged with five runs on five hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out five. Pelfrey is winless in his last four starts (0-2) and has allowed five or more runs four times this season. He has 6.85 ERA.
"I don't think I've come close to going as deep as I'd like in games," Pelfrey said. "And that's on me more than anybody."
The right-hander will return to action Friday against the Mariners.

| Mike Pelfrey had his season cut by Tommy John surgery in 2012 as he made just three starts for the Mets. He posted a 2.29 ERA in those outings and underwent the procedure in May. The right-hander expects to be ready for spring training and signed a one-year, incentive-laden deal with the Twins in the offseason and is expected to help fill out their rotation. Pelfrey has had a couple of decent campaigns pitching in spacious Citi Field, but his inconsistencies have hindered his value in Fantasy. Still, he should see some decent run support in Minnesota and at age 28, still has plenty of time to get back on track. Pitchers usually come back stronger after Tommy John surgery so keep an eye on his progress during the spring. Owners should plan on targeting Pelfrey in some deeper mixed leagues and AL-only formats on Draft Day. (Updated 1/2/13) |
