Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval unable to start Friday

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3:25 pm ET) Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval was not in the starting lineup Friday against the Rays. He left Thursday's game after he was hit on the left wrist by a pitch while striking out in the fourth inning.

Sandoval has been mired in an offensive slump for a few weeks, batting .203 in his last 18 games. He has one home run, two doubles and five RBI in that span.

Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval leaves game for 2nd straight day

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(7/30/15) Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval was forced to leave the game for the second consecutive day on Thursday, this time after being hit on the left wrist while striking out in the fourth inning of the game against the White Sox, per the Boston Herald

Sandoval, who left Wednesday's game suffering from dehydration, struck out against Chicago starter Chris Sale for the second time in the fourth, but the pitch also hit him on the wrist, and Sandoval appeared to be in pain afterward. The Red Sox announced that Sandoval suffered a bruised left forearm.

He was replaced at third for the second straight night by Josh Rutledge.

Red Sox's Pablo Sandoval ends power outage with two-run HR

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(7/28/15) Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval went deep for his eighth home run of the season on Tuesday. He nailed a two-run shot in the second inning, but it wasn't enough as the White Sox downed the Red Sox 9-4.

Sandoval, who went 2 for 4 in the game Tuesday, is batting a rather pedestrian .263 over his past 10 ballgames. The home run broke a string of 22 consecutive games without a longball, his longest such streak of the season.

Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval gets a night off on Wednesday

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(7/22/15) Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros. Sandoval had started 23 games in a row for Boston.

But the slugging third baseman has been struggling in recent games, as he is 7 for 38 over his last 10 games, with just one extra-base hit and one RBI in that stretch.

Brock Holt will man the hot corner on Wednesday.
