(2/14/14) Catcher Rob Johnson, who was waived by St. Louis last November, has signed a minor league deal with the Padres. The twist is that he is now trying to make it as a pitcher, according to Baseball America.
Johnson pitched one game for the Mets in 2012 and another for the Cardinals last season. He retired all four batters he faced.

(11/5/13) Cardinals outfielder Adron Chambers, catcher Rob Johnson and infielder Brock Peterson have been outrighted off the 40-man roster.
The team now has three open spots to add players to the roster. All three players saw minimal time with the big league club in 2013.
