Fantasy Analysis
None of the players listed here would deserve more than a late-round pick in Fantasy -- and that's assuming they all get full-time jobs. Podsednik is a one-trick pony. Kennedy and Byrd have just now become relevant. Ankiel and Blalock have yet to live up to their potential. Huff, Polanco, Beltre, LaRoche, Hudson, Cameron and Lopez lack upside. Same goes for Washburn, Marquis and Smoltz. Delgado and Penny come with too much risk, and Wagner would need to land in the right situation -- one where he could earn saves. Keep an eye on their movement. Nobody else on this list deserves a look in mixed leagues, barring something unexpected during the offseason. (Updated 11/05/2009).
11/12/2009 11:32 Hudson agrees to three-year deal to stay with Braves
Tim Hudson agreed to a $28 million, three-year contract with the Atlanta Braves on Thursday, giving the team a wealth of starting pitching and setting up a likely trade to bolster the offense.
Anderson found a home with the Braves late last offseason, playing for his first team other than the Angels and playing virtually every day. Unfortunately, he didn't have the second-half surge that kept him on the radar in Fantasy each of the previous three years, finishing with a career-low .705 OPS and a barely passable .268 batting average. At age 37, he stands little chance of getting regular playing time again and would produce mediocre numbers even if he did. Leave him for the deepest of Fantasy leagues. (Updated 1/22/10)
