Preseason Outlook

After two injury-plagued seasons, Carpenter made a huge comeback in 2009, proving to be an ace again. He went an amazing 17-4 and posted the lowest ERA and WHIP of his career. He had a decent case to win the NL Cy Young award, in fact. While he doesn't strike out batters like the other top 10 Fantasy starters to target on Draft Day, he is as ace-like as they come. There remains some residual injury and age risk, which are the reasons as many as 10 others could be selected before him in your league. (Updated 1/20/10)
