Hernandez enjoying being reliever : According to MLB.com, Braves pitcher Livan Hernandez said he's finally getting the hang of being a reliever. Hernandez, 37, got out of a bases-loaded jam on Friday night in the 10th and 11th innings. He also picked up the first save of his career with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief in a 13-9 win at Colorado on May 5. "I'm starting to enjoy it," he said. "I like [hanging] with the guys out there. It's different, but it makes me ready for any situation. In the bullpen, you've got to stretch every inning because you never know when you're going to be in the game." (Updated 05/12/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Hernandez became the first pitcher since since Frank Tanana in 1990 to record his first save after making at least 474 starts. Hernandez owns a 1-0 record, one save and a 3.38 ERA over 21 1/3 innings for the Braves this season. He's fanned 12 batters over that span as well. "It's all different for me, but I'm really happy," he said. He may be enjoying himself this year, but in terms of Fantasy value, Hernandez doesn't have much. He should be viewed as an NL-only option in leagues that reward true middle men. (Updated 05/12/2012).
05/20/2012 02:30 The Lineup: Pair of Red Sox combine for 26 letters, 2 HRs
The Red Sox set an odd record on Saturday, as Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Will Middlebrooks both homered to set a new record for most total number of letters by teammates to homer in the same game. Meanwhile, Nationals pitcher Ross Detwiler may be looking over his shoulder in D.C.
05/16/2012 22:37 Marlins continue hot May behind Stanton
Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run homer and possibly saved two runs with a diving catch and the Miami Marlins beat the Braves 8-4 on Wednesday night, adding another win to their impressive May record.
Livan Hernandez was the usual workhorse for Fantasy owners again last season and will try and make one more rotation at age 36 in 2012. After going 8-13 with a 4.47 ERA in 29 starts for Washington in 2011, the right-hander signed a minor-league deal with the Astros in the offseason and will compete to be a starter during spring training. Hernandez made fewer than 30 starts for the first time since 1997 a year ago as the Nationals rested the veteran down the stretch in order to get a look at some of their younger pitchers. Still, he has always been able to eat up innings and will be worth a look in NL-only formats if he's able to crack the rotation in Houston. (Updated 2/8/12)
