Raul Ibanez had the best year of his career in 2009, hitting 34 homers with an .899 OPS to emerge as an elite Fantasy option. In the two years since, he has dropped off the radar considerably. So what went wrong for him? It's simple, really: He began to act his age. He'll turn 40 this season, meaning he turned 37 the year he made a name for himself in Fantasy. He couldn't cheat Father Time forever. Of course, a 20-homer season still counts for something, and Ibanez did have one of those last year. He did club 15 of last year's 20 long balls in the Phillies' bandbox of a stadium, but he will be going to an even better hitter's park this year, as he signed on with the Yankees to be their designated hitter. Given his age, though, and the fact that he could lose some at-bats against lefties, save Ibanez for your deeper mixed leagues and AL-only formats. (Updated 2/25/12)
