(9/18/14) White Sox retiring designated hitter Paul Konerko is slated to return this weekend in Tampa Bay from a fractured hand that has kept him out since Sept. 2. But Robin Ventura doesn't want to rush him.
"I think during the weekend we'll be able to give him hopefully a couple of at-bats," Ventura told MLB.com. "If he's up for it, he can probably DH one of those games."
Konerko could play significantly when the team returns home as he concludes his farewell season.

(9/15/14) White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko, out since Sept. 2 with a small fracture in his left hand, had originally hoped to return over the weekend but now thinks he'll be able to play at some point during the three-game series at Kansas City that begins Monday, according to ESPN.com. At the latest, he'll appear in the three-game series at Tampa Bay that begins Friday.
"I'm in a pretty good spot; I took some swings off the tee, some soft toss," said Konerko. "I definitely could feel it in there. It's a little sore today but it's soreness that I know. It's not that I went backward. It was expected. So I think now, for me, I have no worries that I'm going to get back out there this week."
