White \| CBSSports.com (4/20/13) Rangers relief pitcher Derek Lowe earned his first win of the season with four scoreless innings of relief in a 5-0 win over the Mariners Saturday, allowing just a base runner on a hit by pitch. Lowe was summoned in the second inning after starter Nick Tepesch was struck on the wrist by a line drive. He lowered his ERA to 2.35.

by Chris Cwik \| CBSSports.com (3/26/13) Reliever Derek Lowe will be the Rangers’ long reliever to open the season. Manager Ron Washington confirmed Lowe has made the roster. Lowe converted to the bullpen with the Yankees last season. In 23 2/3 innings as a reliever, Lowe had a 3.04 ERA and a 3.77 FIP.

Derek Lowe, Jeff Baker expected to make Rangers' 25-man roster

White \| CBSSports.com (3/23/13) Pitcher Derek Lowe and infielder/outfielder Jeff Baker are expected to survive the final round of cuts and make the Rangers' roster, according to the Dallas Morning News. Rangers manager Ron Washington indicated that he's comfortable using Baker at first, second and third and in left and right field. The versatile defender is hitting .423/.464/.558 in 56 plate appearances this spring. Lowe could be a long reliever and occasional spot starter but has an outside shot of making the rotation. "We’ll see what happens in the next few days," Lowe told the Morning News. "I wanted a chance to compete, and that’s what they’ve given me."
