Venerable Vizquel sets record: Toronto third baseman Omar Vizquel went 1 for 4 with a single during the Blue Jays' 4-3 loss to the Angels on Sunday. Vizquel, 45, became the oldest player in major-league history to take the field at shortstop with his third start of the season. "It hasn't been a year of work, it has been constantly working out every year, trying to improve your speed or your flexibility," Vizquel told MLB.com about the honor. "It has been really hard work." Fantasy Analysis
Vizquel broke a record that has stood since 1918 when Bobby Wallace appeared in 12 games at shortstop for St. Louis at age 44. "When you go back 100 years to look for a record, it is pretty amazing," Vizquel said. "I can't believe that I'm still jumping around and playing shortstop at this age. I feel pretty good about my physical condition." Unfortunately, Vizquel's playing time is limited and he should be ignored in all Fantasy formats. (Updated 05/06/2012).
