Padres' Zaun retiring after all: Padres C Gregg Zaun, who was attempting to come back from shoulder surgery at age 39, is retiring instead. "I feel great but my arm is a question mark," Zaun told the Seattle Times Monday. "I feel like my health would have been a concern for me all year long. I would have spent another year in the training room all year long and that's not baseball to me. I still have a romantic image of the game in my head, but my body's telling me it's time to quit." As a result, Rob Johnson is the backup to Nick Hundley by default. (Updated 03/07/2011)

Fantasy Analysis
Zaun was a decent source of OPS at times in his career, but he rarely got enough at-bats to make a real impact in Fantasy. He finished with a career .252 average and 88 home runs in over 1,200 games. Obviously, you have no reason to bother with Zaun in Fantasy going forward. (Updated 03/07/2011).
