Tatis could be done for career: Mets 1B Fernando Tatis, who was placed on the DL July 5 with an AC joint sprain in his right shoulder, underwent shoulder surgery on Wednesday. According to MLB.com, the surgery was to repair the labrum in his right shoulder and could potentially be career-ending. The team transferred him from the 15-day to the 60-day DL to make room on the roster for OF Carlos Beltran. Tatis hit .185 with two homers and six RBI in 41 games before being sidelined with the injury. (Updated 07/15/2010)

Fantasy Analysis
Tatis originally separated his shoulder in September of 2008 and has been playing through the pain over the last couple of years. He had productive seasons in 2008 and 2009 but he might be done for the rest of his career. Fantasy owners should no longer concern themselves with Tatis this season but keep an eye to see if the only major leaguer to hit two grand slams in the same inning can make his way back to baseball.
