by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com

Crowe, who sprained the AC joint in his right shoulder on July 20, is hitting .388 with three RBI, three steals and 11 runs scored over 13 games with OKC. He should be back with the Astros shortly, according to manager Bo Porter.

"We want to make sure his arm is built up to the point where he can play the field consistently," Porter said. "He suffered a pretty rough injury. From all reports, he is back playing, but you do want to make sure he can make all the necessary throws."

Trevor Crowe headed to DL

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(6/20/2013) The Astros placed outfielder Trevor Crowe on the disabled list Thursday, after he slammed into the wall earlier in the day against the Brewers. Crowe was diagnosed with a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder.

"When we went out there I kind of thought it was going to be bad news just because of how hard he hit the wall," manager Bo Porter told the Houston Chronicle. "And then after he raised his arms up there wasn't much strength, when he raised his arms up. And when he tried to throw a baseball, he couldn't throw the baseball."

Crowe hit the wall so hard his glove went over the fence and had to be retrieved from a fan.

"I accelerated and jumped and hit the wall, and the wall won," Crowe said.

The team plans to purchase the contract of Marc Krauss from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take Crowe's place on the roster.

Trevor Crowe supplants Jimmy Paredes as starter

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(6/17/2013) Trevor Crowe supplanted the struggling Jimmy Paredes as Houston's starter in right field for the time being, according to manager Bo Porter, MLB.com reports Monday.

Crowe has started seven of the last nine games for the Astros and Paredes is mired in a bad slump. He's recorded just one hit in his last 21 at-bats in June.

Of course, Crowe is batting just .194 on the year.

"He does a great job and makes things happen," Porter said. "You look at the batting average, and I'm not a batting average guy. He's an above-average defender and gives us great flexibility because he's a switch-hitter. He's just a baseball player and understands the game. We'll continue to find opportunities for him."
