(7/24/2013) Twins pitcher Glen Perkins is expected to get a day off Wednesday against the Angels, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Jared Burton to avoid high-pressure situations

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(7/2/2013) Twins manager Ron Gardenhire will avoid using reliever Jared Burton in high-pressure situations going forward for the time being, MLB.com reports Tuesday. Burton has been struggling recently.

"You always try to say you'll get him in some nonpressure situations, but I don't know if there are those in the big leagues," Gardenhire said. "So we'll try to get him in some situations where it's not the eighth and a one-run lead. I talked to him, and he says his arm feels good, but he's just not putting away hitters right now. So we talked about a few other routes he can go with the way he attacks hitters."

Twins not giving up on Jared Burton

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Despite his recent struggles, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said he's sticking with Burton is high-pressure situations.

"We got it to the right guys at the end but Burton just had a rough time," Gardenhire said, per MLB.com. "He's had a couple scuffles here and we definitely need him. He's been very good for us and we desperately need him to get going again here. He's a big part of our bullpen as one of the last two guys."
