Manager Davey Johnson is not sure how he was injured, however. Owings did not get an MRI and is day to day. "He came in early to get some treatment for his left wrist and he was disappointed that he couldn't make the trip [on Monday]," Johnson said. "I think he might have strained it or something."

Owings attempted to convert to being a position player last season while on a disabled list stint with the Padres, but elbow surgery ultimately ended his season and his conversion attempt. In 205 career at-bats, Owings has a .283 batting average with nine home runs and 35 RBI.
