Brian Bixler signs minor league contract with San Diego

(4/25/2014) The Padres have signed infielder Brian Bixler to a minor league deal. He is destined for Double-A San Antonio.

Bixler has earned major league playing time for three teams, but has not had more than 108 at-bats for any of them. He owns a .189 career batting average.

(2/7/2014) The Phillies have signed outfielder Brian Bixler to a minor-league contract on Thursday, according to SB Nation. Bixler owned a .259./323/.372 slash line with five home runs and 27 RBI at Triple-A Las Vegas last year.

(3/24/2013) The New York Mets pared down their roster Sunday, assigning outfielders Andrew Brown, Jamie Hoffmann and Brian Bixler and pitcher Aaron Laffey to their minor-league camp. The team also sent infielder Brandon Hicks to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Laffey, who was considered a possible injury replacement in the rotation, was tagged for four runs -- his first runs allowed in the spring -- over three innings during an exhibition win over St. Louis on Sunday.
