Rockies carrying extra infielders
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (3/29/2013) With the announcement that outfielder Tyler Colvin will begin the season at Triple-A Colorado Spring, the Rockies will open the season with just four outfielders. That means both Reid Brignac and Jonathan Herrara will make the opening-day roster as infielders.
Herrera batted .290 in the spring, while Brignac posted a .310 batting average. Both have experience at the major-league level, but will likely serve as utility infielders to begin the season.
