Chris Dickerson slugs two home runs Saturday

(7/20/2014) Indians outfielder Chris Dickerson went 2 for 3 with a walk and two solo home runs in his team's 5-2 win in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader with the Tigers.

Dickerson picked up at least one hit in each of his first six games after his promotion but saw that streak end Friday. He made up for it Saturday with his first two home runs of the year. Dickerson has hit .435/.480/.739 in 23 at-bats.

Dickerson missed the last two games prior to the All-Star break due to the injury, but was able to heal thanks to the four off days in a row. He is batting ninth and playing left field against the Tigers.

Cleveland needed an outfielder after placing Michael Bourn (hamstring) on the disabled list.

Dickerson has played for the Reds, Brewers, Yankees and Orioles in his major-league career, batting .262 with a .406 slugging percentage and .745 OPS in 314 career games.

Dickerson last plated on Sept. 22 at Tampa Bay and is batting .238 this season with four homers and 13 RBI -- with 36 strikeouts -- over 105 at-bats.

(9/6/2013) The Orioles selected the contract of outfielder Chris Dickerson and designated infielder Alex Liddi for assignment prior to Friday's game against the White Sox.

Dickerson had not played in the majors since July 14. He batted .243 with two homers and eight RBI in 136 at-bats at Triple-A Norfolk. Liddi hit .245 with 15 homers and 65 RBI in 425 at-bats.

Dickerson hit .245/.274/.412 in 102 at-bats in the majors. He reportedly drew some interest after the team designated him for assignment, but not enough for him to be claimed on waivers.

(7/28/2013) The Orioles would love to keep outfielder Chris Dickerson in the organization and are working on a deal that would accomplish that, The Baltimore Sun reports Sunday. Baltimore loves his outfield versatility. 

Dickerson was placed on outright waivers Saturday after being designated for assignment Friday. Baltimore reportedly dangled Dickerson in trade talks, but there were no suitors.

Dickerson played in 46 games with Baltimore and hit .245 with four homers and 13 RBI. If he stays in the organization, he'll be playing with Triple-A Norfolk.

(7/27/2013) Outfielder Chris Dickerson has been placed on outright waivers, The Baltimore Sun reports Saturday. Dickerson was designated for assignment by the Orioles Friday. 

Baltimore had been attempting to find a trade suitor for Dickerson but apparently could not. Dickerson played in 46 games with Baltimore and hit .245 with four homers and 13 RBI. He hit two homers in a game against the Yankees.

(7/12/2013) Orioles outfielder Chris Dickerson received a cortisone injection in his left shoulder and took some dry swings prior to Thursday's game against the Rangers. Dickerson is still not scheduled for an MRI and could be "full-go very shortly," according to manager Buck Showalter.

"I kind of trust him because he knows what he's dealing with in there. He was available to us tonight in a couple of capacities," Showalter said, per MASN Sports. "If we don't think he can contribute in some factor, at some point, we'll make an adjustment."

(7/10/2013) Orioles outfielder Chris Dickerson, who was scratched from Wednesday's win over the Rangers, was injured during batting practice, The Baltimore Sun reports. He was swinging in the cage and immediately dropped his bat and went into the clubhouse. 

Dickerson was diagnosed after the game with a strained left shoulder. If it isn't better by Thursday, he'll undergo an MRI. He has a history with that injuries in that shoulder and is day to day.

Expected to be dealing with an injury issue, Dickerson is batting .253 this season with four homers and 13 RBI. That said, he's gone just 7 for 40 (.175) over his last 22 games with 17 strikeouts.

(5/31/2013) Orioles outfielder Chris Dickerson drew the start at designated hitter Friday against the Tigers after getting one at-bat in the previous seven days and came through, hitting a three-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 7-5 win.

It was Dickerson's fourth home run in 48 at-bats this season.
