(1/16/2009) The Rays agreed to a one-year deal with right-hander Lance Cormier, who became a free agent in December when Baltimore failed to offer a 2009 contract. To make room on the 40-man roster, right-hander Dewon Day was designated for assignment.

(7/6/2007) The Chicago White Sox placed reliever Mike MacDougal on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation and activated right-hander Dewon Day before Friday's day-night doubleheader against Minnesota.

(6/30/2007) The Sports Xchange reports that Dewon Day begins a minor league rehab assignment with Charlotte on Saturday. The right-hander has been on the disabled list since June 16 with a sore back.

(6/16/2007) The White Sox made official Saturday a move the announced Friday night -- RP Dewon Day was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained back muscle and RP David Aardsma was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte.

(6/15/2007) White Sox RP Dewon Day (back) returned to the hill Friday against the Pirates. He pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings, not allowing a hit and striking out one. However, the bad news came after the game. White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said Day would be put on the 15-day disabled list with a sore back and David Aardsma would be recalled from Triple-A Charlotte. The moves were not expected to be made official until Saturday.

(6/11/2007) Manager Ozzie Guillen was upset he had to bring in closer Bobby Jenks after the White Sox took a five-run lead into the ninth. Fans let Dewon Day and Boone Logan hear it, too. The bullpen allowed two runs, boosting its ERA to 9.09 in its past 29 games. "It's one of those things where everybody caught the same bug, I think," Jenks said. "It just makes it look that much worse when, instead of one person struggling, it's a handful."

(5/28/2007) The White Sox recalled reliever Dewon Day from Double-A Birmingham on Monday. He has struck out 48 in 20 relief appearances with Birmingham this season. The 26-year-old has a 2-3 record and a 3.60 ERA with three saves.

(5/28/2007) Chicago recalled infielder Andy Gonzalez from Triple-A Charlotte and right-handed reliever Dewon Day from Double-A Birmingham. Gonzalez was hitting .242 in 35 games with Charlotte. The 25-year-old has appeared in two games in separate stints with the White Sox this season, going 0-for-2. Day replaces left-hander Andrew Sisco, who was optioned to Charlotte after Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. Day has struck out 48 in 20 relief appearances with Birmingham this season. Day a strikeout machine in minors


(4/15/2007) According to MLB.com, White Sox RP prospect Dewon Day struck out six over two innings of relief during Saturday's 7-5 win for Double-A Birmingham over Mobile. The right-handed closer has 16 strikeouts and one walk over 5 2/3 innings this season. Day added his first victory to three previous saves after Saturday's outing.
