Donnie Veal outrighted to Triple-A

(4/19/2014) The White Sox opened up a spot on the 40-man roster Saturday by outrighting Donnie Veal to Triple-A Charlotte Saturday. Veal was designated for assignment earlier in the week, after posting a 6.00 ERA in six innings of work.

The team's bullpen was stretched to the limit Wednesday, and it was assumed the team would make a move in order to get someone fresh for Thursday's game. In 6 innings, Veal posted a 6.00 ERA.

(7/13/2013) The White Sox recalled Donnie Veal from Triple-A Charlotte Saturday. 

Veal replaces Matt Thornton on the roster after the reliever was traded to Boston. Veal is 1-0 with a 8.59 ERA over 14 appearances this year. He's 2-2 with a 2.70 ERA for Charlotte.

(7/12/2013) The White Sox are expected to recall reliever Donnie Veal from Triple-A Charlotte Saturday, according to the Chicago Tribune. He is 2-2 with a 2.70 ERA in 26 2/3 innings with Charlotte. Veal has allowed seven runs over 7 1/3 innings in the majors.

(5/22/2013) The White Sox optioned reliever Donnie Veal to Triple-A Charlotte after Wednesday's loss to the Red Sox, MLB.com reports. Veal makes room for John Danks to be activated to start Friday against Miami. 

Veal has made 14 appearances for the White Sox with a 8.59 ERA. He had a scoreless performance over 2/3 of an inning with a walk Wednesday.

Veal has made four straight scoreless relief appearances for Charlotte after posting a 4.26 ERA. He appears to have his command issue straightened out.

(5/1/2013) The White Sox have optioned reliver Donnie Veal to Triple-A Wednesday.

Veal had only thrown 6 1/3 innings with the team this season. He had a 4.26 ERA. Veal was one of the few lefties in the team's bullpen. He will be replaced by right-hander Brian Omogrosso.


Veal collects first career save


(9/24/2012) White Sox reliever Donnie Veal picked up the first save of his career in Monday's series opener against the Indians. He entered in the ninth inning with one on, two out and a two-run lead and gave up an RBI double to Shin-Soo Choo. Veal was able to get the next batter to groundout, however, to secure the 5-4 win.
